| Pierre Gabaye (b1930) Recréation for Trumpet, Horn, Trombone and Piano 3rd movement : Presto Pierre Gabaye began his musical studies at the age of 7 and pursued a career as a pianist and composer in both the jazz and classical spheres. He won the Prix de Rome in 1956 and, three years later, was appointed Director of Light Music at Radio France. He retired in 1986 and now lives in Chamonix. A late representative of the French neo-classical tradition, his career and music was very much in the brisk but impeccably crafted mould of Poulenc and Saint-Saëns; as the name implies, his Recréation of 1958 is light-hearted entertainment music, pure and simple.
